Why is shipping from China so expensive?
There are several options for transporting goods from China to Europe. Each has it's distinct cost structure and transport duration. Please find a small summary of shipping options we offer below.
Seafreight:
Low cost per m3 or kilo, but quite high on fixed fees for documents and customs. Shipping, loading and unloading will take about a month. As we will normally ship only to Rotterdam in the Netherlands, we might need to truck it to your location, which will take some time too.
Budget Seafreight:
Same as above, only we will try to combine several smaller shipments in one. This to save some money on those fixed costs for you. As products might need to wait a while, it could take longer then Seafreight.
Airfreight:
High cost per kilo and some document and custom fees. Goods will be flown to Amsterdam first and then distributed to your location by truck. Which might in total take a week or two.
Courier:
Very high cost per kilo, but no or low fixed costs. As the Express companies (DHL, TNT, UPS, FedEx) will delivery directly to your location, no additional transport is required. There is one drawback, we can't pay import taxes or VAT for shipments in countries we are not present, so you will have to pay them.
Some tips to bring down your transportation costs: Ship multiple items in one order and plan and order ahead of time. Our website will calculate total cost and lead time for your products automatically, no need to worry about them yourself. For really large volumes we can search for a cheaper option, please contact us for that.
